Technology Sector
The Technology Sector’s supply chain reflects the dynamic nature of the Technology marketplace, with high service-level requirements, bringing products to the market quickly and reliably. Technology sector supply chains need to be able to have the in-built flexibility necessary to deal with demand side complexity. This can be caused by promotional campaigns, seasonality impacts, short product lifecycles and as in other markets; the general unpredictability of market demand.
Key aspects of the sector include: Spare Parts Delivery, ranging from economic service levels to sameday business critical deliveries and the complexities around Return and Repair, be it product recalls/exchanges or general recovery and processing of defective products.
The Technology sector is a wide-ranging sector, covering Computer Equipment, Mobile Devices, Consumer Electronics, Electronic components, (including Chips & Microprocessors) and finally, the project-based supply chains associated with Telecommunication Networks.
Bisham Consultants have worked in many Technology Sector projects, in a wide-range of activities. This experience has been established of many years in operational management, solution design & supply chain consulting. Below are some of the activities we have been involved in;
- Procurement of 3PL Services, selecting suitable candidate 3PL companies for the bidder’s list, creating the RFQ documentation and dataset, project managing the procurement process, assessing proposals, making final recommendations, drafting contracts and finally assisting in the final contract negotiations.
- Logistics centre or DC design & layouts, sizing buildings, racking layouts & types, resource models and incorporating relevant key requirements in material flow capacity, storage density, safe working environment, operational costs, operational flexibility, stock rotation etc.
- Network review and re-design, reviewing the effectiveness of the existing strategic network plan and accompanying tactical planning processes, operational management & control processes. Network re-designs are done using Bisham’s transport modelling toolset.
- ‘Rapid Diagnostic’ operational reviews to identify process, productivity, non-conformance issues within logistics operations; also, to review the suitability of existing IT systems in delivering cost-efficient solutions.
