Tim Bett

Tim has been a champion of demand-driven Supply Chain thinking for many years and held Director roles in Life Sciences (DSM) and Specialty Chemicals (Rohm and Haas), as well as senior Logistics roles in the Minerals (ECC and Gold Fields of South Africa) and Paper industries (Arjo Wiggins Appleton).

Tim's functional experience covers all aspects of the Supply Chain:

  • Procurement (raw materials, services, capital equipment)
  • Planning (from sales forecast through to production scheduling)
  • Logistics (warehousing, tank storage and all modes of transportation)
  • Operations (materials handling, cutting, blending, packing etc)
  • Customer Service (from order entry to after sales)

He has been responsible for creating/implementing Supply Chain organisations and designing, or re-engineering, processes in conjunction with ERP implementation. In each case, the Supply Chain has been designed to support the Business and has been managed via a rigorous Sales and Operations Planning process.

Tim's particular strengths are:

  • Developing demand-driven Supply Chain strategies to support business plans
  • Designing processes (such as S&OP) in parallel with IT system implementation
  • Putting together and leading major programmes (such as change management, organisational restructuring, acquisition integration and operations carve-out)
  • Working Capital management and inventory (re)balancing
  • Outsourcing to 3PLs as well as internal or external 4PL solutions
  • Supporting Corporate Social Responsibility/sustainability/climate change initiatives
  • Selling the value of Supply Chain internally and preparing communications for the Board
  • Workshop or meeting facilitation, training and conference presentations

Tim has an MBA from INSEAD. He is active on several Supply Chain Association Boards in Europe and is a regular speaker at conferences. He is also a Director of ELUPEG - a not-for-profit organisation which seeks to stimulate 'sustainability through collaboration'
