Client: Kitchen Consultants

The Project:
Our client was implementing a number of changes to support the strong growth in his highly successful contracts division business of fitting out of apartments in major building developments. The client was seeking to implement an IT system that would provide the control necessary in the demanding construction industry.

Kitchen Consultants has been forging strong and consistent growth (>20% per annum) in their niche business supplying and kitting out the kitchens of apartments within prestigious building developments. This level of business activity and the demanding requirements of the construction industry were stretching the process infrastructure of the operation. New warehousing facilities had been purchased to replace the previous outsourced resource and a new business system was required to support the warehouse and streamline and control the purchase, storage, supply and fit-out of the products. Failure to deliver a solution would impact dramatically on the ongoing success of the business.

We were asked to assist them in this critical project. Our client was busy ‘doing the day job’ and therefore did not have sufficient resources, IT infrastructure or skill set to effectively support the project. First step was to carry out business analysis to detail the system requirements and further to identify the preferred IT system supplier and recommend the optimum solution.
The existing infrastructure lacked suitable purchase, sales order and stock control functionality and the means of managing the various threads of component supply, through the various project phases to final site handover. The search and selection process was completed with our recommendation of a fully featured but entry level MRP type solution. This system is modular based and gives the level of project control essential in the fast moving construction industry.
