Mark Bedeman

Mark has worked with IBM for a number of years as a Global Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Freight Logistics. He was a member of the global “catalyst” team formed to bring together IBM industry capabilities and was responsible for IBM pre sales. His role also involved sourcing and developing sales collateral and building and delivering “C” Level messages around business performance and operations, supported by IT. He provided thought leadership, developed and ran internal Freight Transport University classes and provided expertise to support IBM client opportunities. Prior to that he was the Business Development Director, IBM Freight Logistics, EMEA

For 9 years Mark was an Executive Consultant in Europe for Accenture where he took the lead for the sales and development of the Accenture Supply Chain Academy, e-learning suite. He was a Member of the Supply Chain Practice in Europe responsible for Business Development of the Supply Chain Academy across Europe and Asia. He worked on outsourcing (4pl) opportunities with Ryder, Exel, Siemens, Sonoco, TPG, Deutsche Post, Danzas, Volvo Logistics, SJCargo and Wilson. He also worked on Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain projects for Sony, Samsung, United Utilities, Millenium Chemicals, Usinor, Aventis and Sainsbury and was involved in the development of eCommerce strategies for AgoraTrans, CPG Markets and T-Mobile. In addition he worked on Business and Partnership opportunities in Mobile Asset management, with Ford, and Isotrak

In 1989, Mark was a founder director of Exel Logistics, and helped the development of its vision and mission statement, and their future international development strategy

From 1985-1989 he was Managing Director of SPD Contract Distribution during which he won a £125m contract with Tesco to establish two multi-temperature warehouses of 30,000sq.m each employing over 500 people, was responsible for taking over all Van den Berghs (Unilever) ex-factory distribution throughout the UK, and taking over 200 of their staff, whilst building two new dedicated warehouses of 20,000 sq.m and was responsible for taking over 800 Storehouse employees and creating a £20m per annum contract. Mark was also responsible for managing 50,000sq.m of warehousing on behalf of BHS, Habitat, and Mothercare. Prior to that he was the Managing Director of Bar Delivery Services, a joint venture with Whitbread to store and deliver beer, wines and spirits to the Whitbread estate around London.

Mark led the Exel Logistics first business outside the UK, acquiring logistic companies in Spain, France and Germany, along with opening new operations for  Kraft, Apple Computers and Marks & Spencer.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Director of the Israeli Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Ex Director of European Logistics Users Providers & Enablers Group ELUPEG and Ex Chairman of the Supply Council, Conference Board of Europe.
