Background
Sylvania Lighting is a multi-national manufacturer of all forms of lighting including consumer, automotive and industrial. They have already rationalised their distribution in Southern Europe by extending their main German production site at Erlangen to house a South European Distribution Centre to serve Germany, Austria, Eastern Europe and Italy.
They were now planning to set up a North European Distribution Centre.

| Bisham Consulting reviewed all logistics activities in the area. This included movements from 7 manufacturing plants to numerous national distribution centres and from the national distribution centres to end customer. The objective was to identify the optimum location for a single distribution centre identifying size, layouts, manning, equipment, capital and operating costs. The planning process also took into account different tax and legislative regimes |
