Background
DENTSPLY
International is the largest supplier of professional
dental products in the world. With facilities on six continents,
it distributes its dental products in over 100 countries,
under some of the most well established brand names in
the dental industry.
Following a system selection exercise, Dentsply needed
to implement this new system to support new Demand Planning,
Inventory Optimisation & Purchase Planning processes
for the Chairside business in Europe.
The implementation project focused on forecasting for
Finished Goods (approximately 6500 skus) by market, combining
local Demand Planning with central Strategic Inventory
and Replenishment Planning.

Activities
We
prepared a detailed Project Plan encompassing the activities
of all members of the project team, showing tasks, dates
and dependencies, taking into account availability as
well as geographical location. Each team member was allocated
specific tasks and given a timeframe with deadline dates.
Regular meetings were held to review progress and to discuss
issues. Updates to the project plan were issued and action
lists revised and distributed.
Our project manager’s role was to ensure that progress
was being monitored, taking steps to highlight any barriers
and to liaise with team members to resolve any issues.
We also monitored and reported on resource usage and costs,
both external (software supplier’s support team)
and internal. |
